U.S Department of State to Host International Conference on the 1967 Arab-Israeli War

  The Department of State`s Office of the Historian will host an international conference on January 12th and 13th, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Loy Henderson Conference Room where the latest historical research on the 1967 Arab-Israeli War will be presented. The conference coincides with the release of the volume:

  Foreign Relations of the United States, 1964-1968, Volume XIX, Arab-Israeli Crisis and War, 1967. The volume will be available on-line here:

  David Satterfield, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, will deliver the keynote address on January 12th at 9:15 a.m. The first panel on January 12, at 10 a.m., will be devoted largely to the attack on the USS Liberty. Distinguished members of the academic, diplomatic and military communities are expected to participate in this two-day conference.

  Members of the media are welcome to cover the conference . Due to space limitations, all attendees, including media representatives, are asked to register their attendance before January 8, 2004, with Chris Tudda in the Office of the Historian, at (202) 663-3054 or by email at tuddacj@state.gov.

  Pick-up and pre-set times for cameras covering the remarks and discussions will be:

  Monday, January 12 at 8:15 a.m. from the 23rd Street entrance
  Final access time for all press: 8:40 a.m. from the 23rd Street entrance

  Tuesday, January 13: 8:00 a.m. from the 23rd Street entrance
  Final access time for all press: 8:20 a.m. from the 23rd Street entrance
  Media representatives who plan to attend must present one of the following press credentials: (1) a U.S. Government -issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver s license or passport).
